IRIS IMS is pleased to announce the publication of a new case study showcasing the digital transformation journey of Le Foyer Jambois, a leading social housing provider in Wallonia. The report — “Le Foyer Jambois – Building a Smarter, Paperless Future in Social Housing” — highlights how IRIS IMS helped the organisation transition from manual, paper-based document processes to a fully digital, intelligent document management system. You can read the full case study here.

Transformative Change in Social Housing
The case study outlines the challenges faced by Le Foyer Jambois: fragmented and paper-based workflows, time-consuming document searches, siloed tenancy and accounting systems, and a backlog of legacy tenant records. These hurdles made it difficult to maintain efficiency, ensure data accuracy, or support collaboration across multiple sites.
In response, IRIS IMS partnered with Le Foyer Jambois to develop and deploy a metadata-driven document management framework using the Therefore platform. Archival records were digitised — including 75 metres of tenant files and over 460,000 electronic documents — and system integrations were established with key tenant and accounting systems (Aigles, Popsy, Isabel) to automate invoice handling.
The result? Document retrieval times were cut by half, printing was drastically reduced, and invoice processing became far more accurate and efficient. Staff across different housing sites now collaborate using a unified information system, greatly reducing duplication and the risk of lost updates.
Key Success Factors and Future Plans
The case study highlights several critical enablers that made the transformation possible:
- Detailed workflow assessment and metadata modeling to align with Le Foyer Jambois’ specific needs.
- A digitisation programme for physical archives, supported by Canon Business Services Benelux.
- A phased implementation, including a testing environment, structured training for different user groups, and change management to drive adoption.
- Strategic integration with tenancy, accounting, and banking systems to eliminate manual reconciliation and data duplication.
Looking forward, Le Foyer Jambois plans to expand the digital platform by introducing electronic signatures, additional workflow automation, and a mobile portal to give tenants and staff secure, on-the-go access to documents.
Why this matters
The Le Foyer Jambois case study offers an instructive example of how social housing associations, and other public interest organisations, can modernise document workflows and improve operational transparency through digital transformation. The case reaffirms that with the right technological foundation and change strategy, transitioning to a paperless environment isn’t just a technical upgrade; it’s a cultural shift that can drive better service delivery, cost savings, and tenant satisfaction.
We hope this story inspires other housing providers, municipalities, and public service organisations to explore how intelligent document management systems can unlock productivity and resilience.
